On the political and socioeconomic geography of violence: Spatial heterogeneity and scale effects in Brazil

This study extends prior work by Ingram and Marchesini da Costa examining the territorially uneven effects of political and socioeconomic factors on violence in Brazil. Using multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR) in a cloud-based Python environment, the research assesses the spatial scale at which such factors influence violence and identifies geographical clusters that remain statistically significant after accounting for these effects.
